Hillary Clinton’s Email Was Probably Hacked, Experts Say
By DAVID E. SANGER
JULY 6, 2016
When the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said on Tuesday that his
investigators had no “direct evidence” that Hillary Clinton’s email
account had been “successfully hacked,” both private experts and federal
investigators immediately understood his meaning: It very likely had
been breached, but the intruders were far too skilled to leave evidence
of their work...story in full: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/07/us/hillary-clintons-email-was-probably-hacked-experts-say.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

Analysis: Jeff Bezos’s space company just made a dramatic breakthrough

Jeff Bezos's space company landed the first stage of its New Shepard
space vehicle this week in a breakthrough that could help dramatically
lower the cost of spaceflight...
The landing was cheered as a momentous milestone in the history of space
flight that could one day make human travel far more accessible and
affordable. Typically, rocket boosters are used once, burning up
or crashing into the ocean after liftoff. But Bezos, the billionaire
entrepreneur and owner of The Washington Post...

It could have been Hillary Clinton's tweet that did it.
Just after the US government had given the go-ahead for Shell to
restart its exploration in Alaska, the Democratic presidential candidate
took to the social media site.
"The Arctic is a unique treasure," Mrs Clinton said on Twitter. "Given what we know now, it's not worth the risk of drilling."
Which seemed to ignore the fact that drilling has been taking place in
the Arctic for decades - for example oil was first discovered in one of
the main basins, Prudhoe Bay, in 1968. The area is still producing

Obama Does Have a Strategy: Once you see what he is trying to accomplish, it all makes sense.
By Victor Davis Hanson, National Review
February 3, 2015 4:00 AM
The Wise People of American foreign policy — Madeleine Albright, General
Jack Keane, Henry Kissinger, General James Mattis, George Shultz, and
others — recently testified before Congress. Their candid and insightful
collective message dovetailed with the worries of many former
Obama-administration officials, such as one-time defense secretaries
Robert Gates and Leon Panetta, as well as a former director of the
Defense Intelligence Agency, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn. Their
consensus is that the U.S. is drifting, and with it the world at large:
The Obama administration has not formulated a consistent strategy to
cope with the advance of second-generation Islamic terrorism. It is
confused by the state upheavals in the Middle East. It is surprised by
the aggression of Putin’s Russia and the ascendance of an autocratic
China. Our allies in Europe, much of democratic Asia, and Israel all
worry that the U.S. is rudderless, as it slashes its military budget and
withdraws from prior commitments...
1. Readjustments in the global order are long overdue...
2. All nations and interests act rationally — if given a chance...
3. Do abroad as we try to do at home...
4. Don't sweat the details...

Urges U.S. and Europe to Act Decisively on Debt
By MARTIN FACKLER, NYTIMES

TOKYO — World finance officials called on the United States and Europe
to quickly resolve their debt problems on Saturday, saying that more
decisive action was needed to restore confidence in the faltering
In a communiqué at the end of a three-day meeting in Tokyo, the
of the International Monetary Fund warned that global growth was
slowing as the continuing debt crises in developed countries dragged
down growth in emerging markets. The statement said quick action was
needed to “break negative feedback loops and restore the global economy
to a path of strong, sustainable and balanced growth.”
“There was no objection to the recommendation that we gave to the
membership, which was a-c-t,” said the I.M.F. head, Christine Lagarde,
spelling out the word for dramatic emphasis....
Much of the discussion at the I.M.F. meeting focused on the risks that
the United States, the world’s largest economy, might face if the Obama
administration and Congress cannot agree on deficit reduction,
triggering legally mandated tax increases and federal spending cuts
early next year. Hitting that “fiscal cliff” would reduce growth and
eliminate jobs at a time when the anemic U.S. economy is still
struggling to recover from the 2008 crisis...Full
