LESS THAN ONE WEEK TO GO BEFORE WINTER...SOME SUN TODAY!
But who's counting?  Having tasted some snow, some chilly weather already, we're all ready for the next season...almost.

DEER SIGHTING THIS WEEKEND
You can always tell that winter is on the way when you see deer in the afternoon...Sunday somber day, see above.

TWO HOUR SCHOOL DELAY
Sometimes overnight snow is just for the purposes of making Weston look beautiful.

Mist rising across the open field.
The gift of living in Weston CT never gets old or tired in any season, but especially for me in the autumn.  And the next day feels a lot like...winter.

Morning light.  After it had snowed all day the day before.
As the day progressed, the light shifted.  The sun and wind can chase away the amazing flicker of rainbows that pop up here and there.

INTERIOR ALASKA, DECEMBER 2017 (ABOVE LEFT), WESTON CT (RIGHT)
Forecast for Weston, CT said beginning at @5am - it began after 9am.  Remember that it is better to be lucky than good when dodging Mother Nature's snow balls...

BOARD OF SELECTMEN 12-8-17
Special Meeting Friday afternoon before the predicted snow fall hires two part-time dispatchers.

December 5th "Dennis Tracey Day" in Weston.
BREAKING NEWS:  Dog Park still the biggest issue in Town.  At least for those who are fighting its location in their neighborhood.  "Virtual Net Metering" proposal ($15,000 approved by Selectmen) reported as not approved yet by Finance Board.

December marches on
No one wants to say it, but will it be a white Xmas?

New Board sets its style.
Minutes of meetings and their posting on the Town website is one way to follow this.  Did Weston dodge a tax bullet?

LIVING IN WESTON
Every morning, afternoon and sunset it looks the same...achingly gorgeous.  Color muted this year.

Thanksgiving Day weekend in Weston, CT

Every work of art, it is said, has a "star" of the picture.  Trees like geometry of stained glass?  Line, and then light, are "stars" next.

THANKSGIVING SNOWFALL  IN ALASKA...SPEAKING OF LIGHT.  AND HOW ABOUT THE SUNSET, TOO

Drumstick the winner

Wishbone gets "runner up" title in the event.  Did you read those re-done Obama for America signs?

SPECIAL MEETING Nov. 18, 2017 just talk or will there be action?  We'll see December 4th...budget season fast approaching.

For new Board of Selectmen to name and discuss priorities - setting 3 levels not done.  Great ideas from Stephan on community building!

Senate makes technical changes to Budget Implementer.  Next day House approves with 14 "no shows" and 11 "no" votes.

FLIP-FLOP FROM 2 YEARS AGO
FULL WESTON RESULTS AND NUMBER OF VOTES HERE.  OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY MONDAY NOV. 13, 2017 AT 6:45PM IN TOWN HALL MEETING ROOM

Sunlight through the autumn leaves.
As the song goes...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWfsp8kwJto

BREAKING NEWS:  SPECIAL SESSION COMING NOVEMBER 14 AND 15 WILL BE BROADCAST!!!  Really?  We sure hope so!

Elections come and go.  What happens in Hartford should not be a mystery.

Stark sunlight on a grey day.

Everything muted as we just said.

A muted fall in person - was it gaudier on social media?  "Green slime" or rot or what?
Apparently, according to some reports.  But we do not do "social media" just as we never gossiped or made "catty" remarks in sixth grade. Our apologies to cats.

WESTON FORUM ENDORSED...WHO?   THE TRIO ABOVE ...BUT NOT IN THE ORDER AS INDICATED...
About Town differed - First and Second Selectmen (c.) majority and excellent Third Selectman, who is a steady voice, can't top either IMO.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

It was 5 years ago.  Sandy Hook "terror" begat  Executive Sessions on school security.  And 5 years since Superstorm Sandy, too.

Autumn shades are muted this year.

Our Kousa did not bloom in the Spring, will it turn orange?

Autumn in New England
And in my backyard and all around Town, too - takes my breath away.  High winds and power outages to come later in the day?  5 years ago Storm Sandy swiped at Weston.   And this year. "the morning after" had Weston Schools...OPEN.

BRAVO C.G.A.
  DRAMA  WAS AWESOME.
Going uphill into the unknown.  Just out of sight, the Saugatuck.   C.G.A. soap opera over.  I always felt the C.E.F. would reappear (3 out of 4 caucuses included it in their budgets)..

TOUJOURS LACHAT

The beginning of a windshield survey of the northern part of Weston...Godfrey Road.  The historically accurate renovation of a farmstead (c).  Field for farming (l) and one for dreaming (r).

"MIXING GREENS"AS IN FUNDING SOURCES, NEEDS WORK???

Autumn just too gorgeous in 2017 with lingering hints of warmth, to let C.G.A. bother  me.  Of course, "all for one and one for all" does have consequences; C.C.J.E.F. appeal pending, too.

"Still Revolutionary" Governor of CT, but which revolution?  We don't think this deal is veto proof.  What do we know?

REMEMBER ACORN?
Looming over our mini-forest "under story" are stately oaks.  How is the relationship between/among legislative leadership and the Governor similar?

COMING SOON:  LAST WEEKEND EVENT FOR CALENDAR 2017 AT LACHAT TOWN FARM

TOWN FINANCES AS EXPECTED AT YEAR'S END.
Double-header special meetings during the day - call in feature a big plus for getting small items such as driveway variance, as well as larger ones, moving!

Two versions of Governor's press conversation:  CTNEWSJUNKIE and CT MIRROR

MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY - SELL INTERIOR DECORATIVE DETAIL, FURNITURE?
Governor shows off new frames - looks as if he bought them online - NOT rose color glasses, however.  Press conference after a long day of bipartisan negotiations.

Seasonal song.

We can confirm that the color changes are coming later this year!

The League debates came earlier than we can recall ever happening before.  Giving everyone in Weston eligible to vote ample opportunity to watch them over and over.

VIDEOTAPED FOR CONTINUOUS VIEWING ONLINE AND ON TOWN TV UNTIL ELECTION DAY NOVEMBER 7, 2017

It is October already.  Debates Oct. 7th for Finance (10:30), P&Z (11:45); lunch;  Selectmen (1:30) and Education (2:30).  That would be four (4) debates in one (1) day - shown live on Channel 79.

DO YOU THINK THE TASTEFUL TOWN HALL SETTING WILL INSPIRE CANDIDATES?  YES, IT DID!!!

So with all the drama from Hartford, we are now left with kicking off the Election campaign at the LWV of Weston Debate Day, Oct. 7, 2017.

WILL HOUSE JUMP THE GUN ON OVERRIDE?
CT-N entitles this video "House and Senate Leadership" but take a careful look at subtle suggestion of RED mixed with blue to make purple!

The Governor and Democrat leadership might want to talk to the three Senators to see what will work for them?

Or just take off blinders and compare his own budget, the Democrat one too, with the budget that passed?  Side by side, as Senator Fasano (not shown here) suggests.

Sen. Slossberg (c):
"Republicans listened to structure change argument."  Rep. Klarides says Democrats in leadership haven't read the bipartisan Republican budget carefully.

NYTIMES article on Weston.

Congratulations to HAN Network.
  Uses Titanic-iceberg analogy...
