BARNS & OUTBUILDINGS
I've always liked watercolor the best. The medium puts a premium
on mixing color...and when to leave the paper white...
Barns" got new roof early on in order to save them for future
uses. As well as from the weight of winter snow. Future use - a goat hacienda?
As you might recall, the Lachat Farm was purchased in two
Special Town Meetings. The second purchase (1999) was 10
acre "Upper Field" which was a sunny place for cows...and later a
community ski hill.
MAIN FIELDS ON GODFREY ROAD WEST ALWAYS SAID "THIS IS WESTON CT" TO ME
All year 'round these fields, purchased with the Homestead and barns in
1997, are perhaps the most evocative. Whatever the month, they
take my breath away as they rise into deep forest of Devil's Den.
WHAT IS A FARM WITHOUT A FARMER?
From the very beginning of the latest evolution of the Juliana Lachat
Preserve concept, as far as my records go, it has always been the idea
for SUSTAINABILITY of the concept of a 21st century community farm.
FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT RECALL OR WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION THEN...WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST INSPIRING ART OPENINGS EVER!

A great art show and if I remember correctly, around 2012. Home
movie was shown of skiing down the Upper Field. Cows kept a close eye on
the art...aerial reconnaissance employed, too, or was that "moo?"
